1.9 Transformation Geometry

The language of Reflection
• Axis of symmetry means mirror line
• Sense or orientation means the direction you go round an object or image
• Invariant Points means those points that are unchanged by a particular transformation. In reflection points on the mirror line are invariant points.
• Invariant properties means are the length, area, angle size and sense changed?
The Properties of Reflections
1.Points on the mirror line do not move. The mirror line is the set of invariant points.
2.These properties remain the same for any figure (object) and its image
• Area
• Length of sides
• Whether the lines are parallel
• Size of angles
• Shape
3.Orientation or sense changes under reflection
4.To draw the mirror line between two given points you draw in the perpendicular bisector. (yes I know you’ve forgotten how lol)
